Award winning restaurant currently require an experienced Commis Chef to assist their Head Chef with the running of this busy kitchen.
As a Commis Chef your role will be to assist the kitchen in preparation for service including management of deliveries and stock rotation as well as assisting the smooth running of the kitchen during service
Your role will be to develop your skills, watching, learning and practising your skills wherever possible with a view to gaining as much experience as possible
As well as assisting in the preparation of mis-en-place for all sections, you will take responsibility for running the larder under supervision of a senior chef
Aside from carrying out day to day prep & service tasks you will be expected to be practising and improving your culinary skills, off your own back as well as during service.
You will need to be developing a strong set of chef skills, including knife skills and awareness of kitchen operational procedures
You will need to have excellent communication skills, patience when required and the ability to draw a line between work and play
You must have good level of spoken and written english
You must be prepared to take courses to NVQ level 2 or equivalent
You must have creative and imaginative approach to food production
You must be excellent team worker and be able to work well with senior staff.
Whilst some formal training at catering college would be preferable candidates with no experience are welcome
Alternatively six months experience in a busy restaurant would be preferable.
Clean, smart and well groomed, you will need to be keen to develop your career to the next level
You will need to be hard working and capable of consistently producing food to the highest standards at all times
Your timekeeping should be exceptional and your approach to work based on what you can achieve that day rather than how long it is until you can go home
You should be fun, friendly and outgoing person that genuinely enjoys working in catering, sometimes under pressure, and being in the front line of customer service
You must be able to think on your feet and drive for results with a positive attitude and good work ethic
With excellent career prospects you will need to be creative, hard working, flexible and good with people
