Project Manager / Site Manager – Construction (Hands-On)
Location: Chelmsford, Essex
Salary: Up to £40,000 + company van
Job Type: Full-time, permanent
We are looking for a hands-on Project / Site Manager with a trade or on-the-tools background. This is a site/office based role for someone who leads from the front and isn’t afraid to muck in when required.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage programme, cost, quality, and delivery across multiple projects
Control labour, plant, and subcontractors
Manage variations and client approvals
Produce programmes using MS Project
Prepare RAMS and ensure H&S compliance
Read technical drawings and manage site records
Liaise with clients, suppliers, and consultants
Occasional weekend work as required
About You:
Strong hands-on construction background, with a trade or on the tools background
Experience with SME contractors
Delivered projects up to £1m+
Confident leading site teams and subcontractors
Good knowledge of MS Project & Excel
Full UK driving licence
