This role offers in the region of £55,000 to £70,000 per annum as a basic salary plus performance-related team bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.


You will be required to attend the London office at least three times a week and must show a willingness to be flexible to accommodate client and/or business needs, potentially at short notice.


Employee Benefits Consultant – Overview / The Role


As an EB Consultant you will be responsible for retaining and developing long-term relationships through quality guidance and advice and servicing a portfolio of existing Employee Benefit clients.

You should be technically sound in the various employee benefit products, i.e. workplace pensions and investments, group life, group income protection, Private Medical Insurance, Cash Plan, Employee Assistance Programmes etc.


Financial wellbeing as an area is a key consideration in the employee benefits space but its importance has increased significantly in recent times. Therefore, you should be well versed in this topic also.


The role consists of providing both a corporate advisory service to the leadership team within its corporate clients and a more bespoke service to individual scheme members. Therefore, as well as having the technical knowledge, communication (both written and verbal) is very important and an ability to adapt communication styles to the target audience. Corporate schemes range in headcount from fewer than five to circa 600.


This role would be suitable for someone who currently performs an Employee Benefits role and has a desire to develop their skill set in a more individualised capacity.


Employee Benefits Consultant - Responsibilities

  • The provision of high-quality guidance, advice, and servicing to a portfolio of existing Workplace Pension, Group Risk and Health & Wellbeing clients and their employees.

  • Promoting the value of employee benefit schemes to existing corporate clients and their employees by understanding their needs, communicating effectively, and providing consultation on the structure and suitability of their benefits.

  • Hosting financial wellbeing and benefit presentations in-person and remotely.

  • Working with the Employee Benefits Director to develop the overall proposition.

  • Look for and deal with new business enquiries and identify referral opportunities to Wealth Management and other internal teams.

  • Stay up to date with employee benefit trends in the industry, monitor market developments and assist with the identification of revenue generation opportunities for existing and prospective clients.

  • In time, to take on own clients and manage their profitability.


Employee Benefits Consultant - Requirements

  • Ideally proven experience working within a related employee benefits consulting role.

  • Strong technical knowledge in connection to employee benefit schemes.

  • Level 4 Qualified.

  • The ability to communicate confidently both in writing and verbally and to tailor the communication style to the target audience.

  • Ability to consult, analyse and communicate on employee benefit related products.

  • A desire to provide friendly and quality guidance and advice and service to our clients and their employees.

  • Conduct one-to-one guidance-related meetings with employees regarding their workplace pension scheme and employee benefits (if applicable).

  • To be able to explain complex financial jargon in plain English.

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.

  • Intermediate/advanced skills in Microsoft Office.

  • The ability to embrace AI to help improve internal processes.

  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral and digital e.g., Microsoft Teams).

  • Attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently, manage own workload, priorities, and deadlines.

  • Able to work effectively in a team, communicating with colleagues.

  • Ability to identify issues or challenges and proactively solve them.
